Something Borrowed
By: Emily Giffin

Something Borrowed is the story of Rachel, a smart, young NYC lawyer. Rachel has always been the 'good girl'...that is, until after a few too many drinks on her 30th birthday when she wakes up in bed with her best friend Darcy's fiance, Dex. Devastated by her drunken one-night stand, she tries to move on but finds herself falling in love with Dex. As the wedding date draws closer, Rachel must make a decision: does she follow her heart and pursue Dex, or stand by and watch Darcy marry the man of her dreams?
Read this if you: Need a break from stuffy biographies, work-related reading and heavier fiction.
Don't read this if you: You've ever had a best friend steal your man. You might not find it as entertaining as I did.
The mood you need to be in: Looking forward to a fun, light, entertaining read.
What you should be snacking on: Chocolate, cookies, ice cream or whatever your sweet tooth favours.
Read it while you're: Lounging on a Sunday on your cozy couch. You'll be laughing out loud and cringing throughout this read so you'll want to be alone.
The best part: Without ruining the story for you, the best part is when Rachel finally stands up to her self-centered, snobby best friend Darcy! I almost clapped.
Other books on your nightstand: Something Blue by Emily Griffin, the follow-up novel in which we finally hear Darcy's side of the story.
In a nutshell: This is a great read, don't let the fact that it's a chick lit or wedding-themed deter you. Something Borrowed has been critically acclaimed and on the best sellers list for a while now for good reason, it's a fun story that will surprise you.
