1 1⁄2 cups (360ml) unsweetened plain almond milk
2 tablespoons (12 grams) cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon (16 grams) salted almond butter (if unsalted, add a pinch of salt)
1 1/2 teaspoons chia seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons flaxseeds
1 ripe banana (101 grams unpeeled), previously peeled, sliced + frozen
2-4 ice cubes
1 date, pitted (depending on ripeness of banana)
Add all ingredients to blender. Blend until creamy and smooth, scraping down sides as needed. Add more almond milk to thin, or more ice to thicken.
Taste and adjust flavors as needed, adding more cacao powder for a more intense chocolate flavor, sliced banana or dates for sweetness, or more almond butter for creaminess.
Serves 1 generously or 2 modestly. Keep leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours, though best when fresh.
