HOST BIOS
KIM WOODBURN
Kim was born in Eastney, near Portsmouth. She first noticed the joy of cleaning while watching her fastidious grandmother who cleaned schools for a living, soaking clothes, scrubbing the step and polishing like crazy. Kim's first job after leaving school at 15 was in a high-class fashion shop, ironing the clothes that would be displayed in the window.
She took up her first live-in cleaning job after moving to Liverpool, cleaning from morning till night. A variety of jobs followed: at a toy factory, a holiday camp, as a beautician, a social worker and even a model in a clothes catalogue. Kim also started knitting, and founded a handmade knitwear company. In 1983, Kim made her TV debut modelling her range of knitwear on Pebble Mill At One with Jeff Banks. And it was 20 years before Kim Woodburn became a household name.
Before the How Clean Is Your House? screen test, Kim was told she would be meeting someone named Aggie. She recalls, "I thought she was the presenter and I was the cleaner!" As it happens they were both cleaners who became hosts of the internationally popular series, How Clean Is Your House and Too Posh to Wash.
Now W Network is bringing Kim Woodburn to Canada for a new show and she's looking for filthy families who want to be on TV.
AGGIE MacKENZIE
Aggie was born in Rothiemurhus, near Aviemore, Scotland. At Kingussie High School, she discovered an aptitude for languages. Aggie was taught the art of cleaning by her mother, who deployed a dizzying array of remedies for spots and stains.
Aggie studied for a bilingual secretarial qualification in Aberdeen, then came to London to work at the Foreign Office. 'On my first day they told me I had been security-screened and I would actually be working for MI6!' She hadn't envisioned herself as Miss Moneypenny, and after two years of high-level secrets crossing her desk, she left to join the press office of the National Union of Students. From there Aggie's career moved onto journalism and she worked on a string of national titles, before arriving at Good Housekeeping to work as associate editor of the Good Housekeeping Institute which tests the latest consumer appliances, develops recipes and investigate new cleaning products and gadgets for the magazine.
In August 2002 Aggie was asked if she would like to be considered for a TV series. At the screen test she was introduced to Kim and the rest is history. Aggie and Kim are internationally recognized hosts of the TV series How Clean Is Your House? and Too Posh to Wash and authors of the bestselling books that accompany those series. Aggie also writes a regular column in The Times.
